Ji'an County is located in the middle part of Jiangxi Province, named Lulin in the ancient times, first coming into being in Qin Dynasty( B.C 221) as an administ-ration county. Its current name was originally used in 1914. It now governs 12 tow-nships and 7 rural areas covering 2117 km2 with a population of 0.5 million.

    Ji'an County is abundant in national resources and products among the most impo-rtant province-leveled production bases for primary products. There exist as many s-pecies as 500 in the entire county with a forest-covering rate of 61%, adding up to an area of 1.8 million mu including 0.7 million mu of everglade pines amounting to the greatest area in the whole country. Ji'an primary-colored cattle, grapes from Hengjiang and Asiatic plantain are all the full-bodied local color products. The main mineral products add up to over 30 kinds including coal, iron, manganese, kaolin, wh-ite mud and burnt gemstone. On the eastern part of the town lies Ji'an Railway Freight Station. There stand 2 pump-houses for industrial per-day water supply of 30 thousand tons. Ji'an City Hi-tech Development Zone covering an area of 12 km2 and Ji'an County Industrial Development Zone covering an area of 8 km2 are also separately lying on both sides of 105 State Highway near the eastern border of the county town. The Phenix Industrial City, with a planned area of 11.96 km2-,which is under building,are of hign standard programming and hign standard buildin-g ,same while ready for the upgrade of industry structure.
